New Moon In Aries – The Cure Is In The Pain

On March 24th, 2020 we have a New Moon in Aries. This is a special New Moon, given the unprecedented crisis we’re currently witnessing, but it is also a ray of hope. Every New Moon is a new beginning, and an opportunity to push the reset button.

And the New Moon in Aries is more than just another New Moon. It is the 1st New Moon of the astrological year. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, so the New Moon in Aries is the official beginning of a new astrological year. This is our chance to “start again”.

From all the planets in the sky, from all possible planetary combinations, this New Moon makes a tight conjunction with Chiron, the Wounded Healer. Needless to say how relevant the Wounded Healer theme is right now.

As a society, we have become painfully aware of how wounded our society is. Of how fragile we are, as individuals. Of how important our doctors and healers are.

And of some tougher lessons too – that somehow, we need a tragedy to strike, to become humans again.

Truth be told, most of us had it too easy in the last decades, at least when compared to our parents and grandparents, who suffered through wars and real economic deprivation. In countries where there is poverty, civil war or crisis there is still humanity, there are still temples, there are still people helping each other.

Unlike previous disasters (epidemics, economic crises, wars) this time we see a genuine desire to help. Even in politics, there is less finger-pointing or people trying to take advantage of the situation. People go beyond their instant gratification needs. They stay at home to protect the vulnerable.

New Moon And Chiron

Chiron is the “Wounded” “Healer”, suggesting that the cure for pain is in the pain, in the agent that caused the pain in the first place. This is how homeopathy (a Chironic field) and vaccines work; diseased material is used to make remedies or cures.

That’s why, if we want to heal, we need to get in touch with pain. Embracing pain makes us human.

It is the fear of the pain, the uncertainty, the worry, the desire to control the outcome that is causing the suffering. Surrendering to pain is, in fact, a beautiful thing.

Perhaps you are familiar with the videos that have been circulating on social media featuring Italian people – who have so far, been hit the hardest by the virus – singing on their balconies, quarantined at home.

This is a beautiful example of how suffering leads to solidarity and proof that social distancing is not the same thing as social engagement. We can live next to each other, on our smartphones, and be less engaged than when the walls keep us apart.

New Moon In Aries Vs The Lunar Nodes

The New Moon is at 4° Aries, Chiron is at 5° Aries, and the Nodes of the Moon are at 3° in Cancer / Capricorn

The New Moon and Chiron are squaring the Nodes of the Moon. The message is clear. We are at crossroads with our destiny. And healing will only come if we make friends with our suffering, which is an inherent part of the human condition.

The Nodes of the Moon are known for creating the eclipses and are an act of rebalancing.

The South Node is a karmic point of release. It is during the South Node Solar Eclipse that the Coronavirus crisis emerged. The South Node is what we need to release and let go of, so we can balance our karma.

On the contrary, the North Node is where we need to head towards, what we need more of, where we can exert our free will to move away from past lives’ karma. The two lunar nodes and the eclipses represent the continuous process of the renewal of life.

This process can be seen everywhere in nature. We inhale (the North Node) and we exhale (the South Node). We eat (The North Node) and we digest (the South Node). We act (the North Node) and we reap results (the South Node). The solution to a South Node problem is always in the North Node.

Currently, the South Node of karma is in Capricorn, and the North Node or renewal is in Cancer.

Capricorn is the sign of government, rules, institution, power, and status. Cancer is the sign of home, family, safety and nurturing. So yes, the solution to the South Node in Capricorn problems is staying at home. The message couldn’t be more literal.

But the North Node in Cancer is more than staying at home. Cancer requires introspection. Cancer is the foundation of the Self, where we’re coming from, and who we really are behind the mask.

New Moon In Aries – Coming Home

As the North Node spends the last couple of months in Cancer, we are finally coming back “home”

The North Node in Cancer is a reminder that we cannot “make it” in the harsh world outside unless we build a strong inner foundation, by creating a safe “home” and a sense of resilience from the inside

The truth is, there will always be threats, dangers, and unforeseeable events. There will always be things we have no control upon. But there is one thing we DO have control over: how we react to what is going on in the world.

This week I will reopen the registration for “Chiron – Your Deepest wound, your greatest gift”, an online program about how to turn your wound into a gift.

This is the 3rd year we’ve run the program and now it is more relevant than ever. If you registered in the previous years, you automatically get access to the latest version of the program. If you want to register for this year’s class, you will receive more details in a few days.
