February 2020 comes to clean up the mess after a turbulent January. February is a balanced month and we have almost an ideal distribution of Fire, Earth, Air and Water energy.
Use February to tie loose ends and recharge. March will be another intense month 😉
Let’s have a look at the most important astrological events of the month:
February 3rd, 2020 – Mercury Enters Pisces
On February 3rd, 2020 Mercury leaves Aquarius and enters Pisces.
Mercury will spend quite a bit of time in Pisces, since it goes retrograde mid-February.
Mercury leaves Pisces on April 12! Mercury spends an unusual amount of time in Pisces – and this means that the Pisces house in your chart will come into focus.
February 8th, 2020 – Venus Enters Aries
On February 8th, 2020 Venus enters Aries. Venus in Aries knows what she wants and goes after what she wants. Which is great, especially if you’re the shy or less assertive type of person.
If you’re already assertive, Venus in Aries can make you super assertive and prone to instant gratification “I want this and I want it NOW”.
The greatest quality of Venus in Aries is honesty about one’s feelings – and the upcoming weeks are the best time of the year to take an honest look at our feelings and accept them for what they are – a part of our identity.
February 9th, 2020 – Full Moon In Leo
On February 9th, 2020 we have a Full Moon at 20° Leo. The Full Moon is trine Mars (at 25° Sagittarius) and quincunx Pluto (at 23° Capricorn).
This is a “no compromise” Full Moon. You will feel compelled to follow your heart’s desire, no matter what. Just be careful that you’re actions are not coming from a place of Ego.
If what you feel is clarity, flow and engagement, you’re good to go, if what you feel is anger or resentment, dig deeper.
February 10th, 2020 – Venus Conjunct Chiron
On February 10th, 2020 Venus is conjunct Chiron at 2° Aries.
Venus is the planet of love and feelings and Chiron is the archetype of the Wounded Healer. The message of this transit is straightforward: get in touch with your feelings, even if it hurts.
When we close ourselves off to our emotions, they don’t just go away. They linger in our subconscious and sooner or later, they will turn against us, in the form of self-sabotage.
Being vulnerable is not a sign of weakness, it is a sign of strength. Simply acknowledge the truth of your feelings, with no expectations, without attachment to the outcome.
February 16th, 2020 – Mars Enters Capricorn
On February 16th, 2020 Mars enters Capricorn, the sign of its exaltation. Mars joins the outer planetary Capricorn stellium with the South Node, Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto.
Did you think that the Capricorn drama this January was over? No. In the coming weeks, Mars will ask you to take decisive action and sort things out.
February 17th, 2020 – Mercury Goes Retrograde
On February 17th, 2020, Mercury goes retrograde at 12° Pisces.
No one is a big fan of Mercury retrograde, but you know by now that Mercury retrograde is part of life (Mercury is retrograde for about 20% of the time) so you can’t avoid it.
Instead of running away from Mercury retrograde, pay attention to your thoughts, and to any communication that comes in and out. Since Mercury is in Pisces, pay special attention to your dreams and other intuitive messages.
February 19th, 2020 – Sun Enters Pisces
On February 19th, 2020 the Sun enters Pisces. Happy birthday to all Pieces out there!
This is that time of the year when we all become more compassionate, more imaginative and more resourceful. February is a great time to take some time off or spend more time with yourself.
February 20th, 2020 – Jupiter Sextile Neptune
On February 20th, 2020 we have the 1st Jupiter-Neptune sextile, at 17° Capricorn/Pisces.
This is a blissful aspect that will support us throughout 2020. Sextiles are not so “in your face” like oppositions or squares, but this doesn’t mean they don’t work in the background.
Pay attention to any opportunities that may come your way around February 20th. There’s more to come in the coming months.
Both Jupiter and Neptune rule Pisces, so that particular area of your life ruled by Pisces can be especially favored. You will also benefit from this transit if you have planets around 17° in Capricorn or Pisces.
February 23rd, 2020 – Venus Square Jupiter
On February 23rd, 2020 Venus (at 17° Aries) is square Jupiter (at 17° Capricorn). Venus is our heart, and Jupiter is what we believe in. The square is a dynamic aspect.
This is a good time to take action based on what ‘feels’ right. Important! You don’t want to just act on your feelings (Venus) but do what feels truthful and is connected to your long-term vision (Jupiter).
Jupiter and Capricorn are now in cardinal signs, and you’re more action-oriented than usual, but also more inspiring and persuasive.
February 23rd, 2020 – New Moon In Pisces
On February 23rd, 2020 we have a New Moon at 4° Pisces. The New Moon is conjunct Mercury retrograde and is sextile Uranus in Taurus and sextile Mars in Capricorn.
Normally, New Moons conjunct Mercury retrograde are not the most sought-after transits out there.
On one hand, you feel the New Moon pull to start something new, but then Mercury retrograde is not quite ready. You may feel confused and pulled in different directions. Things are not what they seem – that’s why you want to take your time and do your research.
The upside is that the New Moon is engaged in two supportive sextiles (to Mars and Uranus) and has zero hard aspects. You may find something that will surprise you (Uranus) and you will make some decisions that don’t seem logical but will eventually set you free (Mars sextile New Moon and trine Uranus).
Even if there is a lot of confusion, ambiguity and potential for misunderstandings, somehow, things will work out in your favor.
February 25th, 2020 – Mars Conjunct South Node
On February 2020, Mars is conjunct the South Node of the Moon at 6° Capricorn.
Mars is the planet of action, the South Node is our karma, so Mars conjunct South Node is karma in action. Capricorn is the sign of hierarchies, politics and power dynamics.
Mars conjunct South Node will ask us to release unhealthy behaviors that are not productive and useful.
South Node conjunctions don’t always come with negative outcomes. South Node is more of a balancing act, a “reap what you sow”. If your past actions have come from a place of integrity, then the South Node will reward you. Either way, this is a time to take a close look at your actions, the way you assert yourself and come across.
February 26th, 2020 – Sun Conjunct Mercury
On February 26th, 2020, Mercury retrograde is conjunct the Sun at 6° Pisces. When Mercury is in the heart of the Sun, a new Mercury cycle begins.
Just like the Moon has cycles, Mercury has cycles, too. Mercury Retrograde conjunct Sun is similar to a New Moon and it’s a time to start something new.
If New Moons (Moon conjunct Sun) are great to start an activity you can complete in a month, Mercury cycles are great for starting projects you can complete in a 4-month period.
February 28th, 2020 – Venus Square Pluto
On February 28th, 2020 Venus (at 24° Aries) is square Pluto (at 24° Capricorn). Venus square Pluto is an intense, passionate transit, especially so when it occurs in cardinal signs.
Your emotions will run deep. Very deep – and you will feel more alive than usual. Venus square Pluto will ask you to let go of anything that is superficial, manipulative or self-absorbed, and embrace timeless values such as truth, honesty, and integrity.
Great info, thanks for sharing.
Interesting times coming: Full moon(9.2.) conjuct my Sun and Venus, Jupiter sextile Neptune as Venus square Jupiter are inconjuct my Venus and New Moon is opposite my Uranus
Thanks a lot!
You missed February 29 just wondering if there is significance in this leap year.
There is no astrological significance
Hi! Could you specify the dates of the 4 phases within the Mercury cicle, please? I’ve been trying to shift it from 2019 but I’m not getting there…Thank you!
I found this article about February transits very helpful, will you be doing one for March?
