The Astrology of April 2019 – South Node Conjunct Saturn And Pluto

With three planets turning retrograde (Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto), April 2019 can be a turning point in your life, too. As if three planets retrograde were not enough, Saturn and Pluto are both conjunct the South Node, so these are not your usual retrogrades.

Because Saturn, Pluto and the South Node are in Capricorn, Capricorn is a sensitive point in everyone’s chart in April. The South is Node related to karma and payback. It can manifest in a positive or negative way, but it always comes with a resolution.

If someone owes you something, you may finally get in April. If you owe something to someone, April is a good time to honor your commitment. Capricorn is all about commitment and playing by the rules, so you really want to keep your promises and act from your higher self in April.

Capricorn is also the sign of hierarchies. “Hierarchy” doesn’t mean only who’s the boss, but also what are the unwritten rules of the society. For example, you can play the role of the teacher at home, and the role of a student at work. Or vice-versa.

What is important in April, is understanding what the specific role you play and, most importantly, re-assessing whether the role you used to play in the past is still relevant to your everyday reality.

April 2019 is about understanding where you stand on the hierarchy. Status and hierarchy are very sensitive topics throughout time and across cultures.

Being high on the hierarchy means you understand how the world works, and by understanding these rules, you find your way up.

But just because we understand how the world works, just because we’ve learned the ‘tricks’, doesn’t mean we are doing the right thing. Sometimes these rules need to be adjusted. April is a time to re-assess the role you play in society with responsibility. Is this role aligned with your integrity? Where do you need to make some adjustments?

April 2nd, 2019 – Mercury Conjunct Neptune

On April 2nd, 2019 Mercury is conjunct Neptune at 17° Pisces. Mercury has been conjunct Neptune for a while now. This is the 3rd Mercury-Neptune conjunction (the other two happened on February 19th and on March 24th).

In the last two weeks especially, when Mercury and Neptune have been close to each other, your mind may have been blown… or melted. You may have experienced both confusion and breakthroughs. The 3rd conjunction on April 2nd is the “final act” and will bring the much-needed clarity and direction. Things will finally start to make sense.

Neptune has opened new portals of awareness for you. You now understand why your mind works the way it does. If you were blindfolded, now you can see again.

April 4th, 2019 – South Node Conjunct Pluto

On April 4th, 2019 the South Node is conjunct Pluto at 23° Capricorn. Pluto is the planet of power. Power can be used for good or for bad. South Node is about consequences – consequences of actions from this lifetime or previous lifetimes.

Around this date, you will gain a better understanding of the consequences of power. And because Pluto will soon turn retrograde, you want to reflect on what can you change about your relationship to power so you can use it for good.

Of course, good and bad are relative terms. But this is when you need to trust the Universe. The Nodes already know what’s necessary from a cosmic – not only individual – perspective. Your role right now is to understand the larger context of your existence.

April 5th, 2019 – New Moon In Aries

On April 5th, 2019 we have a New Moon at 15° Aries. The New Moon is square Saturn at 20° Capricorn. You are full of initiative. You want to act. You want everything NOW.

But this New Moon is about learning how to discriminate between what is ‘very’ important, and what is really important.

If something is urgent, it doesn’t mean it is important. Aries is a cardinal, “me first” sign, so make sure that whatever initiatives you start now are aligned with who you truly are, and with your sense of integrity.

April 10th, 2019 – Jupiter Goes Retrograde

Jupiter goes retrograde at 24° Sagittarius. On the same day, Venus is conjunct Neptune at 17° Pisces and Sun is square the Nodes of the Moon.

Jupiter represents your belief system. Jupiter in Sagittarius is about learning how to believe again. When Jupiter goes retrograde, it is a good time to reflect on what you believe in. Are your beliefs still a reflection of the person you’ve become?

Because the Sun is square the Nodes of the Moon, you feel at a crossroad. “It’s now or never” – you may say to yourself. “I want to live a life of purpose, I want to do something meaningful”.

And you are right. No matter your current circumstances, your age, your religion, et cetera, you have the right, the chance and the responsibility, to live a life of purpose.

The secret? Unconditional love (Venus conjunct Neptune). When we love, whether or not we get something in return, this is when we align ourselves with the laws of the Universe.

April 17th, 2019 – Mercury Enters Aries

On April 17th, 2019 Mercury enters Aries. If you have a Gemini or Virgo ascendant this is a new beginning for you. Make sure you start something new, even if you don’t have any idea what. Just start.

You don’t have to be a Gemini or a Virgo, or have a Gemini or Virgo ascendant to benefit from this transit. Mercury in Aries will help you become more assertive and confident.

If you have difficulties bringing your ideas forward, if you are shy or communication is not your forte, make sure you take advantage of the Mercury in Aries transit. In the coming weeks, allow yourself to be more like an Aries. Be assertive, take risks, and speak your mind.

April 19th, 2019 – Full Moon In Libra

On April 19th, 2019 we have a Full Moon at 29° Libra. This is the 2nd Full Moon in Libra (we had another one on March 21st at 0° Libra). These two full moons are connected. So whatever happened in your life at the time of the first Full Moon in Libra will reach a culmination, will gain more depth.

Full Moon = getting stuff done. Normally we have only one Full Moon in each sign on the zodiac (in a given year). When we have two Full Moons (like we do now), this means we will likely have more accomplishments in the particular area of our life ruled by Libra.

April 20th, 2019 – Mercury Conjunct Chiron

On April 20th, 2019 Mercury is conjunct Chiron at 3° Aries. Mercury represents our mind and how we use it to interact with the world (gather new information, communicate, learn new skills).

Chiron is the Wounded Healer, but also the Alchemist who will initially challenge you but then will help you turn something ordinary into something extraordinary.

If you have some hurtful thoughts or if your communication is not that smooth – take this opportunity to understand yourself better – and see how you can transform your vulnerability into opportunities for growth.

April 20th, 2019 – Sun Enters Taurus And Venus Enters Aries

Sun and Venus change signs. If you are a Taurus, Happy birthday! April-May is your season. Venus, your ruler also steps into the first degree of the zodiac and enters Aries.

If you’re not a Taurus, Sun and Venus will still move into different areas of your chart. Sun is in the close proximity of Uranus. Time to try something new!

April 23rd, 2019 – Venus Conjunct Chiron

On April 23rd, 2019 Venus is conjunct Chiron at 3° Aries. Venus is the planet of love, material assets, and personal values. Venus is what is important to you.

The higher octave of Venus is Neptune. Neptune is unconditional love, spiritual assets, and universal values.

Chiron is “the bridge” of the zodiac, linking the visible planets (up to Saturn) to the invisible, transpersonal planets (Uranus, Neptune, Pluto). Venus conjunct Chiron means you are invited to step outside the safe boundaries of Venus and embrace the more universal values of Neptune.

April 23rd, 2019 – Sun Conjunct Uranus

On April 23rd, 2019 Sun is conjunct Uranus at 2° Taurus. If you were unsure what the upcoming 7-year Uranus in Taurus transit will bring, Sun conjunct Uranus will give you the answer.

Pay attention to what happens in your life around April 23rd, as you will get more information about the themes Uranus in Taurus will bring in the coming years.

If something unpleasant happens, this doesn’t mean the whole Uranus in Taurus transit will be like that. Sun conjunct Uranus will simply bring your awareness to the general themes of the transit.

April 24th, 2019 – Pluto Goes Retrograde

On April 24th, 2019 Pluto goes retrograde at 23° Capricorn. Pluto is still conjunct South Node. We don’t only have to deal with the consequences of power (Pluto conjunct South Node) but now we also get into revision mode (Pluto retrograde).

Don’t be afraid to dig into your past. Become conscious of what’s keeping you stuck. You can have amazing breakthroughs about yourself. This is a great time to do therapy, past life regression, ancestral work or family constellations.

April 30th, 2019 – Saturn Goes Retrograde

April 30th, 2019 Saturn goes retrograde at 20° Capricorn and immediately after, Saturn conjuncts the South Node. Saturn is the planet of responsibility. South Node is the planet of Karma.

This is your chance to settle things with your past. Whatever gets settled now, it won’t bother you again in the future. This is a few months long transit, so take your time.

If you take responsibility for your life, April 2019 can be the month when your life can take a turn for the better.

  2. I have Neptune at the 29th degree of Capricorn in my Draconic chart(25th degree of Libra in Natal) and Moon in Capricorn ( 12th degree) My Nodes are 25th degree S-Gemini N- Sagittarius. Interesting times for me< I say. Very interesting article, Thanks.

  3. Thank you. Traditionally Capricorn represented father?
My father is terminally ill, suffering, unbearable. Saturn conjunct south node could it be a time of release for him? Thank you again

    1. I’m sorry to hear about your father’s suffering. Yes, Capricorn is associated with authority figures, including fathers.
