Venus In Virgo – From Barbie To Cinderella

On October 9th, 2023, Venus enters Virgo. Hallelujah! It’s been a loooong Venus in Leo transit – we had 4 months of Venus in Leo compared to the ‘regular’ one month in a sign.

The difference between look-at-me Venus in Leo and the practical and humble Venus in Virgo is like comparing Barbie to Cinderella.

Unlike Barbie, Cinderella was not born in a shiny outfit; she had to scrub the whole house to go to the ball.

When Venus moves into Virgo, the slogan changes from “Because I’m worth it” to “Because I’ve earned it”.

Venus In Virgo – From Barbie To Cinderella

Venus in Leo is where we are unapologetically ourselves. We effortlessly radiate our light and beauty.

In Virgo, we go one step further. Cinderella was as beautiful and worthy as Barbie – but luxury and ball invitations were not handed to her.

Virgo is where we must create value and contribute.

In the story, Cinderella was often contrasted with her half-sisters, portrayed as lazy and entitled. This highlights Cinderella’s modesty and hard work.

I like the Cinderella metaphor because Venus in Virgo often gets a bad rap. Venus is in fall in Virgo, where its qualities aren’t handed to it; it must find creative ways to express them.

And while it’s true that just like Cinderella, Venus in Virgo might need to work a bit harder to do “Venus” – this doesn’t mean that Venus in Virgo’s qualities are not desirable. There was nothing wrong with Cinderella’s humbleness, kindness and diligence.

We know that Cinderella was forced to take on the role of a servant in her own home, handling all the household chores, cleaning, cooking, and tending to the fires.

She is often depicted in the story as sitting by the fireplace, covered in ashes and cinders, hence the nickname “Cinderella.” Cinderella comes from the French name Cendrillon, meaning “little ashes.

The ash metaphor is intriguingly associated with Virgo. The ash is what remains after the Leo fire burns, serving as a highly nutritious fertilizer, frequently used in agriculture (Virgo rules agriculture).

Venus In Virgo And Pisces

Cinderella’s story, like all fairy tales, embodies magic, miracles, and timeless wisdom that remind us of hope’s enduring power and the extraordinary possibilities emerging from ordinary circumstances.

And this reminds us of the opposite sign of Pisces. Virgo and Pisces are 2 sides of the same coin. They are the last sign to end a chart hemisphere (in the case of Virgo that’s the bottom, Northern Hemisphere of the Self, in the case of Pisces it’s the upper, Southern Hemisphere of the World).

Both Virgo and Pisces are thresholds.

They are the space of maximum mutable energy. It’s where we need to be very flexible and adjust to circumstances. Both Virgo and Pisces are experts at this.

Virgo is an expert in bringing magic into our everyday life. Give her the most complex problem, and Virgo will untangle it.

Pisces is where magic happens in higher spheres. Pisces doesn’t look for answers in the mundane world. Pisces let things go. It surrenders. It prays. And when we open ourselves to higher possibilities, magic happens. When we stop resisting, things just fall into place.

Venus In Virgo Transit – October 9th – November 8th, 2023

The Venus in Virgo transit’s initial phase involves ‘scrubbing the ash.’ Venus opposes Saturn in Pisces, with the exact transit on October 10th.

Later this month, Venus trines Jupiter in Taurus on October 22nd. In the Cinderella story, that’s when the fairy godmother helps her go to the ball.

Towards the end of the month, ‘shy’ Venus in Virgo goes wild when she trines Uranus in Taurus, on October 31st. That’s quite the Halloween transit!

In the story, that’s her putting on the nice outfit, going to the ball and losing her shoe. What a Uranian slip 😉 when Cinderella experiences a fortunate twist of fate.

Venus trine Uranus is quite a transit because Venus forms a magical aspect pattern called “Kite”. Venus is also part of an Earth Grand Trine with Uranus and Pluto.

This transit is especially beneficial for practical matters, finances, but also for sensory and sensual experiences like fine dining or quality time with loved ones.

Venus will have quite a blast at the end of the month!

And early November, around November 4th, towards the end of her stay in Virgo, Venus opposes Neptune in Pisces.

Is this the happily ever after? Fairytales leave things open. We don’t actually know if Cinderella and the prince got along and had a happy marriage.

But there’s something magical about ‘not knowing’ and leaving things open. It keeps things interesting. It’s up to us what we do. And this is exactly the type of magic that Venus in Virgo – trine Uranus and opposite Neptune brings into our lives.
