Solar Eclipse In Capricorn – Redemption

On Christmas Day, the Sun, the Moon and the Node of Fate line up for a powerful Solar Eclipse in Capricorn

The Eclipse occurs on December 25th, 2019 in the United States, and on December 26th, 2019 in Europe, Asia, and Australia, and it is visible in most of Asia, North/ East Africa, and North/West Australia.

This is an Annular Solar Eclipse. Annular Solar Eclipses are some of the most powerful – they are “total” so the disc of the Moon completely covers the Sun, but because the Moon’s apparent diameter is smaller than the Sun’s, it makes the Sun look like a ring of fire.

Normally, a Solar Eclipse means that the Moon overpowers the Sun (because the Moon completely covers the Sun)… but when the Eclipse is Annular, the Sun is not completely covered. Its light still shines, like a ring of fire.

Annular Eclipses are very powerful because the Sun is very close to one of the Nodes of the Moon (unlike a partial eclipse, when the Sun is farther away from the Node of the Moon). Indeed, this eclipse is at 3° Capricorn, and the South Node of the Moon is at 8° Capricorn. Very close to each other.

A Solar Eclipse can be either a North Node eclipse (when the Sun and the Moon are conjunct the North Node of the Moon), or a South Node eclipse (when the Sun and the Moon are conjunct the South Node of the Moon).

North Node eclipses are about new beginnings. South Node eclipses (like this one) are about culminations and endings.

An “ending” sounds quite fatalistic – but an ending can have a positive dimension. An “ending” is nothing but a culmination – it’s when something reaches its maximum point of manifestation.

The keyword here is “maximum”. It is a peak. You can’t have more than this. It’s the payout. The good and the bad. If you have planted good seeds, this is a time to reap the rewards.

South Node eclipses are times when we can have our highest achievements. And even if something goes wrong, a South Node eclipse is when we pay our deeds. It’s when we are released from Karma. It’s when we are redeemed.

There’s another thing that makes this eclipse truly special. The Eclipse in Capricorn is conjunct Jupiter, the most beneficial planet in astrology.

Jupiter is the principle of faith, beliefs, universal truth, abundance and expansion. Jupiter is about coherence. No matter our differences, no matter who we are and where we come from, Jupiter will ALWAYS find something that we all share, something we all have in common.

Jupiter is also the planet of religion, and it especially rules monotheistic religions. The principle behind monotheistic religions is that, beyond individual beliefs, there is only one God, or only one force, one intelligent system that governs everything.

Monotheism, or the principle of order, says that chaos alone cannot explain life, and that there is a higher force that orchestrates everything.

Even if you’re not religious, if you “believe” in astrology, you probably believe that there is “something”, a higher force, that gives us meaning and direction. In fact, in the past (before Uranus was discovered) Jupiter was the ruling planet of astrology.

There is one thing about Jupiter that is understated. All religions, all the belief systems, say that if you just follow “the word of God” or what the guru says, or the word of law, or what your politician says, then you become a “part” of the system.

And then it doesn’t matter how many mistakes you’ve made in the past, no matter how much you’ve “sinned”.

You’ll be redeemed. Just because you believe.

When you focus on the underlying principle, when you focus on what you have in common with anyone else (rather than what makes you different), everything flows effortlessly.

When everyone speaks the same language, we can all understand each other. And in this commonness, in this common space of understanding, we are redeemed.

There is something truly unique about Jupiter right now. Jupiter is now conjunct the Sun, which means it is under the beams of the Sun, which means Jupiter is invisible. You can see it neither in the morning sky, nor in the evening sky.

Jupiter is invisible for about one month every year (when it is in the same sign the Sun is), and when that happens, the principle of “coherence” is overshadowed. The Sun overtakes Jupiter.

But when we have a Solar Eclipse, something magical happens. When the light of the Sun goes off, the light of the stars “turns on”. What is otherwise invisible, becomes visible.

For a few minutes, at the time of the Eclipse, Jupiter does something it cannot do otherwise: it shines bright. The power of belief is stronger than the dark of the night.

No matter where you’re at in your life, no matter how difficult things may be right now, no matter how many mistakes you’ve made in the past, remember that you can always be redeemed.

As long as you focus on what we have in common, rather than on what makes us different. As long as you believe that there is a higher force that gives us meaning and direction.

  3. I LOVE this commentary for a lot of reasons. #! – my South Node is at 2*Capricorn. #2 – on 1/12/2020 the Saturn/Pluto conjunction will come close to squaring my Natal Moon at 24* LIbra – and that same conjunction will come close to opposing my natal Mars/Saturn conjunction in Cancer at 24* and 27*. #3 – My Moon is Balsamic – so I am used to ‘endings’ and cleaning up ‘loose ends’. And with my Natal Sun at 10* Scorpio square Pluto at 11* Leo, intensity and transformation are also very familiar! This information provides more insight into how to navigate these energies. Thank you! Happy New Year and New Decade.
