Total Solar Eclipse in Leo on August 21st – Be the Change You Want to See in the World

On August 21st, we will experience one of the most significant Solar Eclipses of the century. The Eclipse takes place at 28° Leo and is a Total Solar Eclipse, which means the Moon will cover the Sun, the sky will become dark and the Day will turn into Night.

Eclipses have always been a source of fear, fascination, and excitement. A Total Solar Eclipse is indeed a dramatic event. The Sun disappears from the sky, turning our source of life and energy off in the middle of the day.

I experienced this extraordinary event myself in Europe in 1999. A Total Eclipse of the Sun is indeed breathtaking – animals, birds, insects go crazy just before the Moon covers the light of the Sun. Time and space go into another dimension. It’s almost as the world ends by the time everything becomes dark.

But as soon as the first dim of light crosses the dark sky, everything goes back to normal. Animals stop running around and the world comes back to life, as if nothing had happened.

A Solar Eclipse is like a power outage. The light suddenly goes off – some people freak out and don’t know what to do. Others indulge themselves into darkness and tune into the mystery of the night.

When the light goes off, your priorities change. A Total Solar Eclipse is about the imminence of change.

A Total Solar Eclipse is also a Cosmic Reboot.

Think of a computer – any computer needs to be turned off from time to time to work properly. If you don’t turn your computer off, it will start to slow down. You need to clean your PC’s random-access memory from time to time if you want it to work at a decent speed. And to do this, you have to reboot your computer, by completely disconnecting it from the power source.

In the same way, when the sky gets overheated, we need a celestial blackout, we need to shut down the power source. We need to “turn off” the Sun. When we “turn on” the Sun again, the Universe starts afresh. A new beginning. This is what a Total Solar Eclipse is about.

And We Have the Nodes

An Eclipse happens when the Sun or the Moon conjunct one of the Nodes of the Moon. Eclipses take place in pairs approximately every half year. The Nodes of the Moon are the Head of the dragon, pointing towards our Future (The North Node) and the Tail of the dragon, pointing towards our past (the South Node).

The North Node and the South Node always come in pairs, and they are always opposite each other. It is in their nature to work together, you cannot have one without the other.

The past and the future permanently adjust to each other. Our actions in the past can influence the future.

Let’s say your parents raised money so you can go to college. They sent you to the best schools and teachers. You going to the college is a promise from the Past into the Future.

However, your soul has another plan. While in college, you meet a mentor and decide college is not what your soul needs, and you decide to embrace a spiritual path instead. Or you are too entrepreneurial and the college bores you to death. You decide you are better off if you start your own business.

Let’s say in the 2nd year of college, there is a Solar Eclipse which hits your Sun. You suddenly drop out of college, and your family is outraged.

What happened? The Eclipse came to realign you with your life purpose.

Because the college (the legacy from the past) was on the way of you manifesting your purpose (the North Node) something had to happen. You had to renounce (South Node) the college in order to move forward.

This is how the Nodes work together. That’s why Eclipses are a Karmic reset, a cosmic readjustment so that you can actualize your mission in this life.

There is nothing to fear about Eclipses. Eclipses are fundamentally positive astrological events which point you to the right path.

Eclipses can be experienced though in a myriad of ways. If you’ve been resisting your soul’s mission (let’s say you did not listen to your inner guidance and chose to stay in college) then the Eclipse can be experienced like a dramatic and unexpected event. Maybe you go bankrupt and you have to drop out of college. Or you fail your exams. Or you go to jail (yuk). If you resist your path, something will happen anyway so you don’t do what you are not supposed to be doing.

When we resist the Eclipses, we can experience them as a negative, stressful event, or “bad luck”.

However, if you are already on the path of your Purpose, the Eclipse will not affect you in a negative way, but will open instead the door to the “next level” on your path. Therefore, for some of us Eclipses can be extraordinary positive events and can bring incredible advancements and progress.

Irrespective of how you are going to experience this Solar Eclipse, try to keep in mind that everything comes to you precisely at the time you need it. The universe always works in your favor.

What is the Solar Eclipse in Leo All About

The Solar Eclipse in Leo is closely trine Uranus, now at 28° Aries, and is also conjunct Mars at 24° Leo.

If you know Bonny Tyler’s song “Total Eclipse of the heart” then this pretty much sums up this Eclipse. The Solar Eclipse is in Leo, the sign of the heart. This means that the light that guides you when life gets dark will stop flashing. But only for a while.

In the darkness, you will get a flash of insight from Uranus, a divine message of what you need to do, while Mars, your drive, will channel this flash of divine insight into action. Indeed, exactly at the time of the Eclipse, in the darkness, Mars, currently invisible due to its proximity to the Sun, will become visible and shine very bright. The dormant warrior will awaken.

In the dark of night, you don’t need to open your eyes to see. Let the Moon take the center stage for a while. Let the intuition guide you. Let the divine message come from above. The time when the divine masculine (the Sun) merges with the divine Feminine (the Moon) and they cast a spell on the Earth, in that divine moment of new beginnings, you can start again, brighter and stronger.

But it’s Not About Them… it’s About You

The United States will experience a complete blackout or total eclipse. Its path of totality will cross right across the United States. The last time the US experienced a coast-to-coast Total Solar Eclipse was in 1918.

And while everyone talks about Donald Trump in a pure South Node in Aquarius manner, this Eclipse is not about “them” … it’s about you.

With a North Node in Leo it is time to look inwards, at what makes US (not U.S. 😉 happy, of what gives us a sense of purpose. It is you first, and “them” second.

The North Node in Leo and the South Node in Aquarius will ask you to focus on yourself, to find your own light. It can be comfortable to look outside and blame the neighbours, the company we work for, our friends that nag us all the time, the government, Donald Trump, the world order for what’s wrong in our lives.

And although it is true that the world can definitely be a better place and there are quite some nasty people out there whose decisions affect all of us, the Solar Eclipse in Leo is here to teach you that this time is about you. It is about what you can change to make this world a better place.

It’s All About Surprises

No doubt the Sun, the Moon and the North Node play the central role in this Solar Eclipse. But it’s Uranus, the planet of Surprises that applies the closest aspect to the Solar Eclipse. The Eclipse will bring big surprises. Nothing that you think will happen, will actually happen. Allow yourself to embrace the new.

The element of surprise is also highlighted by the retrograde motion of Mercury which is already close to the Sun and getting closer. Some sort of disclosures, cover-ups, secrets will come to surface at the time of the Eclipse, but also around September 4th when Mercury turns direct, exactly at the degree of the Eclipse (28° Leo).

The energy is very much focused on the individual – Leo is the King of the Jungle and Aries, where Uranus resides, is the “me first” sign. Mars is also in Leo so we have a lot of fire, a lot of action, and a lot of unpredictability.

Keep your antennas up to intercept the flashes of intuitive insights from Uranus. They will come to you at the right moment and with the right message. Trust the divine guidance and act upon it. Love affairs, pregnancies, young people, parties and celebrations are possible fields where things can happen.

How the Total Solar Eclipse in Leo is Going to Affect You

Solar Eclipses can give you a glimpse into your “shadow self”. We all want to think of ourselves as decent people. As we need society’s approval to survive, we chose to focus only on that part of ourselves which is socially acceptable. But our light is only half of us. We are both light and shadow.

The Solar Eclipse is that time when the “other half” of ourselves comes to the surface.

Even if what you will find out will disturb you or even shock you, it will give you the opportunity to embrace the whole truth of who you are, will allow you to see yourself and the world from a completely different perspective.

The Solar Eclipse in Leo is an invitation to leave behind the fears about what others may think of you, and instead bring your inner light to the world freely, without concern.

  1. Impressive, I love your explanation! It is clear, precise, and very useful! Thank you so much!

  2. If the eclipse is just the day of your birthday, like me, how will this influence to what you have explained? Will it “enhance” it anyway? Should do or think anything? Thank you again!

    1. Hi Nestor, indeed it will enhance it, you can experience a big change in your life. Happy birthday 🙂

  3. Wonderful insights with great sense of positivity!! I haven’t really found such great explanations of astral events anywhere in the world before!!
    Please keep ushering!
My experience of past 3 months i e June July Aug resonates with this 100%.
Am a capricorn sun sign , Leo moon and Taurus ascendant.
Got shaken up badly after having suddenly experienced a downfall in career!!
This reading has actually opened up a lot of my mind.
    Thank you.

  4. I wonder, are we going to see anything here in Europe? everybody talks about the US, but what is going to happen here ; I am i Portugal
    thank you

  5. If the eclipse isn’t visible where I am (New Zealand) does that mean it doesn’t have the same effect, or are the effects of an eclipse felt around the planet even if we can’t see it? Thank you!

    1. The Eclipse will affect all of us, all around the globe, but will affect especially people living in the following North American states: Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. Where the Eclipse is visible the effects are stronger, but still everyone will feel the Eclipse, especially if the Eclipse touches a sensitive point in one’s natal chart: the Sun, the Moon, the Ascendant or the Midheaven

  6. This transiton is happening in my 1/7 house, with North node close to the beggining of the 8 house.I usually have good experiences while nodes come in this houses.
