New Moon In Leo at 0°– Cut Through The Bull$hit

The New Moon in Leo on July 23rd is going to be dramatic, surprising and unexpected. Sizzling with passion, the New Moon is a wake up call to roar like a lion, strike a lightning, and cut though any B$ and lies you’ve been telling yourself.

The desire to break free from ‘concrete maze’ we’ve built around ourselves is now so consuming, that we cannot ignore it any longer. To say that the energy of this New Moon is intense is an understatement. Remember the electricity in the air before a thunderstorm? The restlessness, the anticipation, the impatience it brings? This is what the energy of the New Moon in Leo will feel like.

What makes your heart spark? What is the difference between what you’ve been told you are supposed to be and what your soul truly wants? What makes you feel fully alive, vibrant, aligned with your heart’s desires? The New Moon is an invitation to light the fire of our soul and shine.

This powerful New Moon will be the teaser and a stage-setter  for the coming Leo Solar Eclipse on August 21st.

The July 2017 New Moon will take place in the very beginning of the sign of Leo (0° to be exact!). Then, next month, on August 21st, we will have the 2nd New Moon in Leo which is also the Solar Eclipse we are all waiting for.

The New Moon on July 23rd is tightly conjunct hot-blooded Mars and squares unpredictable Uranus at 28° Aries. The Solar Eclipse on August 21st is also in Leo, is also conjunct Mars, what is different is that the Eclipse is trining Uranus. Every time we have two New Moons in the same sign, the Universe wants to make sure we “get” the energy of that specific sign, that’s why is giving us two chances to master this energy.

To make sure you harvest what the Solar Eclipse in August has to offer you have to firstly deal with this New Moon. Your strength, your will are being tested right now. The New Moon on July 23rd will ask you to break something so you can move forward.

July Mars New Moon Leo

The New Moon in Leo is the official start of the Eclipse season. It is time for MAJOR new beginnings. New Moons in general are great times for new beginnings, but this New Moon is the definition of new beginnings because it occurs at the , which is the degree of new beginnings.

And is also conjunct Mars, the most brave, action oriented, assertive planet in our solar system. What else do you need? We have absolutely no excuses not to act now.

At 0° Leo and in conjunction with Mars, the planet of action and initiation, and square Uranus, the planet of the authentic self, this lunar cycle will ask you to get out of your comfort zone. Sun, Moon and Mars are square Uranus! You have to “make it” or “break it”, now or never.

With two New Moons in Leo, with the North Node in Leo, we all need to learn how to be like a lion, how to shine, how to be the king of our castle.

If you’re trying to get something started, this is your New Moon – is boiling with initiative and confidence.

Look at the Sun! The Sun is inevitable. We can always count on it to rise each morning – even after the darkest night the Sun is a promise that this too shall pass. The Sun is the promise of the Universe that we can – and we should – shine our true nature without fear.

And the question the New Moon in Leo is raising is: “Are you truly living in harmony with your inner sun?”. The New Moon is an invitation to get in touch with your inner child, an invitation to open up to the endless and infinite possibilities of who you are.

But maybe the most important message of this New Moon has to do with understanding and embracing our masculine side, our animus, our yang.

With Sun and Mars, the most masculine planets in our solar system joining in the first degrees of Leo, we are all being asked to “be a man” and “act like a man” irrespective of our gender. Women or men, we all have masculine energy.

The New Moon is going to ask every single one of us the dreaded question  “Are you a real man?”. And because Uranus is squaring the New Moon we will have to cut through any B$ and get real. Those who have been faking it will get a big slap in the face. Uranus wants us to wake up to the reality of who we really are.

If you need external proofs to feel worthy, if you think you need a great job title, a sport car, a trophy partner, you are not expressing your real, authentic masculine qualities, irrespective of your gender. You are dependent on external validations, trying to be in a certain way because you think that’s the only way people will accept you.

You are a real man when you stop trying to “prove yourself”. When you don’t measure your self-worth by how much money you have in the bank, if you have “manager” in your job title, if you fly business class.  When what matters is whether the voice you are listening to is the voice of your inner Truth.

Being a man does not mean you should do what you want and stop caring about others. You are a real man when you are able not only to take care of others, but also deal with failure and embrace criticism. This is what it means to be brave and courageous like a lion. This is when every battle you lose will get you one step closer to victory. This is what the leonine courage and pride is about.

The New Moon in Leo will teach all of us to passionately roar the truth of who we are, loudly and proudly. Without fear. The time has come to put yourself out there and shine your true light. Somewhere deep within, you know what you have to free yourself from. Sun and Mars will help you tap into your fearless side so you can shine your truth with pride and dignity.

Uranus will bring a sense of urgency in the process, pushing you to move forward with courage and authenticity. You cannot compromise who you are any longer. Let your inner light shine brightly, cutting though the bull$hit, melting any resistance, blinding the eyes from illusion, blinding any fear or doubt that is left.  There is no shadow within this light.

Growth and self-fulfillment are rarely found within your comfort zone. And to truly live, you must be one with your inner sun. If you chose not to, you are wasting your life. The New Moon in Leo is the much needed wake up call to say “I had enough” and make the necessary changes so you can live a life of pride and dignity.

The New Moon is also supported by a beautiful Grand Fire Trine with Mercury and North Node in Leo, Saturn in Sagittarius and Uranus in Aries. The only aspect that clouds the fiery sky is Venus opposite Saturn across the Gemini/Sagittarius  axis, signifying a crisis of faith.

Some beliefs need to go if you want to build your life on a new foundation. Embracing the new-found knowledge openly and with awareness can allow you to effectively move into the new direction.

“Doubt yourself and you doubt everything you see. Judge yourself and you see judges everywhere. But if you listen to the sound of your own voice, you can rise above doubt and judgment. And you can see forever.”

The New Moon will affect you greatly if you have planets or angles around 0° in Leo, Aquarius, Taurus, Scorpio or if you have Leo ascendant.

Look in which house you have 0° Leo to understand which area of your life needs to be reclaimed.

Last Quarter Moon In Aries – The Missing Piece Of The Puzzle

On Sunday, July 16th we have the Last Quarter Moon in Aries. The Last Quarter Moon is dynamic and unpredictable and will reveal something we’ve been missing. This “missing element” will take us completely by surprise, given that Uranus and Mars are in a very close aspect to this lunation.

Last Quarter Moons are always dynamic because there are essentially a square between the most important celestial bodies, the Sun and the Moon. This particular Quarter Moon will be even more so, because it triggers the Mars Uranus square in the Cardinal signs Aries and Cancer.

Because of these squares, Sunday and Monday will be very intense, in contrast to the rest of the week, which has been rather uneventful. After the powerful Full Moon in Capricorn we had some well-deserved time to chill out, reflect and regain our strength and clarity.

The Last Quarter Moon in Aries will be explosive and unexpected, like an alarm clock waking us up from a dream. Mars is pairing with the Sun while the Moon is pairing with Uranus. Sun and Mars in the sign of Cancer will seek the safe harbor, the familiar territory, while Uranus with the Moon in the individualistic sign of Aries will look for freedom and seek to rewire (Uranus) our patterns of behavior (Moon).

Last Quarter Moon Aries

Mars and Uranus are the most intense, active and alert planets so expect a lot of inner tension. We cannot have emotional freedom and play it safe in the same time. This is the message of this turbo-charged Last Quarter Moon. If you want predictability, you might miss all the fun. It is either, or.

Don’t try to fight the restlessness you’re experiencing because it is in the uneasiness of the conflict where you will find the way out.

Look at the moon right now. It is exactly half illuminated. Half light, half dark.  You are now at the crossroads, looking how far you’ve come and how much further you can get. It is a time of transition, transformation, of evolution.  Something is about to happen, something is about to change.

The message may not be so easy to decode as it is internal, so don’t expect something to just “happen” in the outside. You are the one who needs to make up your mind and make the necessary decisions.

Like with any decision, a part of us wants to move forwards, and a part of us resists change. This is not the time to make life changing decisions, this is a time for readjustment. It is a time to see what is not working, look at the cracks, see what exactly what needs to be changed, so you can prepare for something better.

The changes we make at the Last Quarter Moon are not so obvious, “in your face” like the changes we make at the First Quarter Moon.  If during the First Quarter we are motivated to build, to manifest in the outside world, during the Last quarter we are motivated to “de-construct”, to find a new direction.

The changes we make now require some sort of mental adjustments, a shift in our thinking, in our beliefs. They are very much internal and sometimes unconscious. Last Quarter Moons can be uneventful, but are uneventful only from the outside. Inside, things are changing.

Don’t try to resist them, go with the flow.  Just like the moon, we need to go thought the cycle of growing and disseminating, so we can grow again.

On Sunday especially, but also during the whole next week when the Moon is disseminating, let go of anything that needs to be let go of: projects, beliefs, attitudes, habits and behaviors, people, places, dreams, whatever it is that is holding you back.

Now is time to bring your life in line with what you deeply know to be true.

You are affected by this transit especially if you have planets or angles between 24°-29° in Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn). Look in which house you have Aries to get more clues about how the energy will manifest in your life.

Things to do during the Last Quarter Moon:

Contemplate – Last Quarter Moons are those time in the lunar cycle when is actually beneficial to look back, evaluate and contemplate, while keeping the focus on the big picture. What have you learned from the moment of the New Moon until now? Last Quarter Moons are also a good time to look ahead, not necessarily with big dreams and hopes, but with wisdom and reflection:  what are you going to do different next time?  This is a time of change, to reflect on the consequences of your past actions as well as decide what you should keep on doing, and what not.  Ponder on why you have not achieved some of your objectives. And make sure next time, at the next lunar cycle, you avoid doing the same mistakes.

Make decisions – Write down all the projects you are working on but you did not have the chance to complete. Take a honest look at each single one of them. Which one is worth pursuing and which one is not? What do you need to eliminate so you can move forward? Circle the top projects and activities and make a commitment to do something about them, and plan the next steps to make sure you complete them. The Last Quarter Moon is your last chance to make changes and restructure your plans. And then cross out all the remaining  projects and objectives. Make the conscious commitment to release them.

Break bad habits – If you want to kick a bad habit, you might find it is easier to break it at a Last Quarter Moon phase than at a New Moon phase. This is because at a New Moon, when the Moon is invisible, we can feel quite confused, without a compass and we are generally low in energy. Use instead the active energy of the Last Quarter Moon square to end a habit you wish to quit.

Do some recycling or small DIY projects – If you are not a DIY person yourself, you can instead go and shop for any type of item that has been recycled, reprocessed or reused, for example reclaimed wood, or for anything that has to do with energy saving, for example energy efficient appliances, energy efficient light bulbs, energy efficient windows.

Reclaim your job – Last Quarter Moons have a Capricorn vibe because Capricorn is the last Cardinal sign, connected to Aries (the Sun’ equivalent of the New Moon) with a square by sign. That’s why during Last Quarter Moon any type of adjustments related to your status, to your career, anything that has to do with reclaiming your status and authority is favored now.

Do gardening – if  you have a garden, now is time to harvest or weed the garden, and prune dormant fruit trees. The Last Quarter Moons in general are also a great time to start building a new compost heap.

Take care of the details – this is a great time to deal with those “odds and ends” you’ve been neglecting, dig into the details, and finish the work you’ve been procrastinating. Either if it is finishing some paperwork, paying the bills, cleaning out the cupboard or reinventing the existing space in your room, now is time to organize, streamline, clean up, throw away whatever is impractical, useless, or toxic (those decades’ old jars in the fridge or the empty spray bottles for example), and in general to toss out the old stuff to make space for the new.

Move! Let’s not forget that the last quarter Moon is a square, and if you feel a rush of energy and don’t know what to do about it, yoga, martial arts or any type of movement that  aims to align the body with the mind are very beneficial right now.

Full Moon In Capricorn – All Or Nothing

There’s an extremely powerful Full Moon in Capricorn coming up on July 8th, cutting across the Cancer/Capricorn axis at 17°.

The Full Moon is conjunct Pluto, opposite Mars and square Jupiter, forming a T-square in Cardinal signs. The message of this Plutonic Full Moon is very powerful and will touch every single one of us: dig as deep as you can until you find the passion that fuels your soul. Stick to the truth and nothing but the truth. Settle for nothing less than what your soul craves for. And purge what no longer serves you.

The Full Moon in Capricorn is undoubtedly the most intense Full Moon of the year, and will give us an unique opportunity to make radical changes in our lives. The Full Moon in Capricorn will subject us to our greatest fear. It is only when we can face our greatest fear that we can fully tap into the truth of our soul. And this truth is always scary, because it contains all the shame, all the darkness, everything we are to too scared to embrace in ourselves.

There is no mountain high enough, no ditch too steep for the goat to climb. The Full Moon in Capricorn will expose that dark part of our soul who wants to win, who wants to reach the summit, who will devour anyone or anything that keeps us from reaching our goal.

Traditionally the Moon is not very strong in Capricorn. Its nurturing qualities cannot be easily expressed in the hard working, ambitious and dutiful sing of the Goat. But deep in our soul, beyond comfort, we all have a mountain to climb, a purpose we know it’s worth living and fighting for.

The Full Moon in Capricorn will ask you to break through your comfort zone (Cancer) and honor your ambitions and passions so you can make it to the top. The Full Moon is a great opportunity to take responsibility for what you really want. Propelled by Pluto, you can now climb higher than ever.

You are not alone in your quest to Everest. Your ally is not your ego, nor our physical strength (both Sun and Mars are now in comfort-seeking Cancer and their primary concern is preservation; they are not interested at all in risking their life for what they call “foolish” endeavors). Your ally is Pluto, this infinite energy and passion hidden very deep inside your soul. Pluto wants only one thing: to change you.

Pluto will either take you to the top of the mountain if you chose to adapt and evolve OR to the bottom of the underworld if you resist change. Either way, you will HAVE TO let go of what no longer serves you. With Pluto there is no negotiation, there are no compromises.

Fighting a battle you’re not in control of? Give away your control to Pluto and let him fight the battle for you. The only way to deal with Pluto is to hand him over everything you have. If you try to dominate something in your life by resisting change, the Full Moon in Capricorn will beam light on your ego-driven pursuits and expose your humanly limitations.

Even if Mars is currently weak in Cancer (Mars is also invisible as it approaches a conjunction to the Sun, and an invisible planet is thought to be weaker) still it does not mean it will not add up to the general tension that accompanies this Full Moon.

When Mars applies an opposition to another planet, he wants to show he’s the boss. An opposition is a very confrontational aspect and when you have the God of War involved you can definitely expect battles of will. Unfortunately for Mars, he is not only opposing the soft& sweet Moon, he is also opposing Pluto, who is very strong in Capricorn.

Pluto is the higher octave of Mars, so we will have ego-centered will vs. higher will. There is no question who is going to win this battle.

However, we should not forget about what Cancer stands for. In isolation, comfort and security (Cancer) will not take us too far (Capricorn) but we cannot get too far (Capricorn) if we don’t have a solid identity and if we don’t take proper care of ourselves (Cancer).

Mars and Sun are also in quincunx to Saturn showing us again our boundaries and asking us to find creative solutions to express ourselves in a constrained environment, and in the same time acknowledge the possible consequences of our actions.

Jupiter is mid-way in this epic battle of wills. Jupiter is the release point of the Full Moon, the point of balance. If you feel completely overpowered by the energy of the Full Moon, what will help is to come back to the basic meaning of Jupiter in Libra: fair-mindedness, balance and mediation.

But Jupiter is also a very straightforward planet, “what you see is what you get”. Applying a square both to the Sun and Mars, and to the Moon and Pluto, his aim is to reveal and to expose. Jupiter magnifies and exaggerates, and when he reveals a secret, he also calls the paparazzi. Exposure is indeed a major theme of this Full Moon – so better be honest with yourself and make peace with the “dark side”, otherwise the Full Moon’s light will reach into the depths of your secret and let everyone else know about it.

There is an all or nothing quality about this Full Moon. Although Pluto will paralyze us with fear, and Mars and Sun in Cancer will make us want to play it safe, there will be an overwhelming desire to give our soul what it craves for, no matter the consequences. It will become impossible to ignore and deny our soul’s longing and this urge to satisfy it will propel us from the inside to do whatever is needed.

…but at which cost? The powerful Full Moon in Capricorn will raise questions about how much one can withstand. Just like a volcano, Pluto will burn through everything, leaving only the essentials.

The Full Moon in Capricorn reminds me of Ernest Hemingway’s novel “The old man and the sea”.

The main character of the novel, Santiago is an old, experienced fisherman who hasn’t caught a fish in months. On the 85th day of this dry spell, he heads far out into the Gulf of Mexico where after several struggles he manages to hook a giant marlin. Unable to pull the fish into his boat, because of the giant size of the fish, Santiago holds onto the line for three days before killing it with a harpoon. 80% of the book is in fact a description of Santiago’s struggle to bring the fish to the shore.  But on his way home on the sea, the sharks reduce the fish to bones, and the old man returns to port only with the skeleton of the giant fish.

All this struggle for nothing…or maybe not. The “Old man and the sea” is a story about what really matters, about values such as pride, respect, and tenacity. While challenges and setbacks can strip someone of all the outward signs of success, still their spirit can remain undefeated.

Or, as Hemmingway puts it, a man is not made for defeat.

A man can be destroyed, but not defeated.

If you are brave about the changes you need to make in your life then the Full Moon will transform the core of your being and help you take your personal power back. During the process, you may discover you don’t need much. Only the essentials. That truth worth fighting for.

The sabian symbol for 18° Capricorn is “The Union Jack flag flies from a British warship”. The symbol points to the concepts of power and institutions. Power is required to maintain social order but this power can easily be misused under the pretext of preserving “law and order”. Justice and compassion (Jupiter in Libra) must balance this institutional power to make sure is not being used for selfish advantages.

The transformative quality of this Full Moon in Capricorn has also been acknowledged in the native American tradition, where the Full Moon of July was called the Buck Moon, pointing to the time of the year when the bucks grow new antlers.

If you have Capricorn ascendant, if you are born around January 8th, or you have other personal planets or angles around 17° in Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) you are going to be especially affected by this Full Moon.  Check which house in your natal chart is ruled by Capricorn for more insight.
